carebears!

1st things first...

the treasure8 fund raising competition to raise funds for AWWA (Asian Women Welfare Association). never heard of them be4 but i was raising funds for them. It was a team of 5 to 6 ppl to raise as much money as possible. my team name was carebears with

1. guowei, the leader and overall in charge. the guards regular who's not an officer. but honestly, he should be one. looks like a carebear though... lol. really nice guy with loads on energy and enthusiasm. always goes out into the depths of the crowd to do sales. upfront and personal. he's really the man.

2. yuting, the accountant. in charge of the final accounting of money. bubbly and always smiling. honest and really sweet. her smile really brings about loads of positivity. always carries her favourite bottle of chuppa chups around to sell. super cute.

3. lanpei, the financial controller and dajie. always with her big pouch and loads of money. strong and always makes things happen. nv seems to wan to give up. dun think the team would have survived without her.

4. dennis, the creative director and cac president (clarence appreciation club). who can design cards that sell for $10 per pc. only dennis. if the rules were to not sell anything else but the stuff that were given to us, we would have won hands down. the cards that dennis made were amazing. she really has the creative flare. she also another super bubbly and hyper-active girl, never ending things to say.

5. clarence, the lady+aunty killer = super woman killer. i mean... what else would a woman want from a guy? tall, dark, fit, and not bad looking. hahaha.... all the lolli pops i sell for $1per pc, he can sell 1 for $3.... i feel like a lousy salesman... lol... in terms of sales, he's the man. actually, lanpei and guowei too... crap... i out of sudden feel like a deadweight. lol. anyway, thanks to him, i managed to get into this team, you're the man bro.

6. me!

well... how things went?

1st day i wasnt there, only came at night. but it was fun playing bridge, found out that i was in the alliance with 3 teams, the malaysians, the xiaomin team and my team. (vivienne told me that they were the teams to beat and i wasn't in the alliance, i was damn glad that i was in it)

but after the 1st day, the 3 teams of the alliance were in the lead. with my team being 2nd.

the 2nd day was the main event. we had loads of things to do, we started making cards, den we were sent to different locations to do sales. we were given juicers, lemons, oranges and sugar to make lemonade to sell.... but den... no ice.... no table.... no pitchers.... no bowls.... whats the use if you know how to make lemonade but have no equipment. not forgetting the fact that they got sour + rotting oranges and lemons with thick skins and no juice... sigh... i wished they'd given us the money to let us buy our own lemons. well... we had no time so we went door to door to sell the stuf... tamp is really too over charitirized and we din do very well...

the next place was orchard. we got sommerset, outside the uob plaza there. initially we thought it was the worst place possible... and i dun disagree, it was B A D. the crowd din have space to stop to look at our wares and everyone was in a rush to either get back or to get to somewhere. the other places had more luck seriously... but we din do too badly... we actually did quite well. not as good as the malaysians but after the end of the day, we were way in front. and i mean way way way in front. + we had some hidden stuff we din reveal, the pre-sale cards, we made a killing there.

the last day... sort of our biggest mistake. we took toa payoh. thinking that going door to door might have some luck, we decided to try it out. it felt horrible... the sales. nobody seemed to want to buy anything, neither did we get much donations. but somehow.. we got about 600+ amazingly. it was usually the case of every hour we would get like $100+ to $150+ on average but that day we got $600+ for 3 hours of work. clarence power lar... hahaha

when we got back, we were thinking of putting in $500 to our amount with the thinking we collected only like $300 at toa payoh... but den we met xiaomin... she said her team collected $2.2k. we immediately took out our $500. later she told us again her team had collected 1.2k.... man.... the team that finally won was summer's team who i heard combined their earnings for the last day with another team. bringing their total for the last day to $1.8k. sigh...

i dunno what happened and i dun wanna bother. im glad i wasnt raising money for some lousy charity, AWWA really is doing something good. but i still think the planning was quite bad. but who cares! it's over. and my team still won $500!

but in the end... looking back. it was a fun experience. i dun regret doing it.

carebears countdown!

P.S. i still have some cards if you want any. lol
